Mark Zekulin
Executive Chairman

Mark is a lawyer and entrepreneur with significant experience navigating complex regulatory and commercial environments. He is a Founding Partner at The Greater Return, a mission-oriented private investment company focussed on investing in early-stage companies that are building disruptive and resilient, future-focussed companies.  

As the former President and CEO of Canopy Growth Corporation, Mark built one of Canada’s most successful start-ups over the past decade, growing to become a NYSE-listed, multi-billion dollar enterprise with over 4400 staff located across five continents.  During Mark’s leadership at Canopy Growth, its culture, products, and marketing campaigns all garnered recognition and awards, including as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures. In 2019, the Toronto Stock Exchange named Canopy Growth as the top performing stock over the preceding three years on its inaugural TSX30 listing. The Company also attracted an unprecedented $5 billion investment from Fortune 500 beverage alcohol company Constellation Brands, and partnered with leading cultural icons including Drake, Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen and Martha Stewart.

A lawyer by training, Mark has practiced international trade law and holds a Masters in Law from the University of Cambridge, where he specialized in International Law. Recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40, Mark is also a Co-Founder and Director of the Happy Roots Foundation, a private charitable foundation committed to supporting the healthy development of children’s minds and bodies, and is the Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa.

Andre Fernandez

Andre’s experience includes the role of Chief Operating Officer of Canopy Growth where he was responsible for creating and executing the company's global operational strategy. His primary focus was on building a world-class globally integrated supply chain.

Before joining Canopy Growth in early 2016, Andre primarily worked in manufacturing finance and asset management and was part of the team that helped implement the World Class Manufacturing methodology to transform Chrysler when Fiat and Chrysler merged. He managed the cost optimization program to meet aggressive productivity and cost objectives and was responsible for saving millions each year.

Andre holds a Masters of Business Administration from Rotman School of Management (UofT) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) from Queen's University in Civil Engineering.

Rade Kovacevic

Rade Kovacevic has been a life long entrepreneur, founding Cerium Media in 1998, the Medical Cannabis Centre of Guelph in 2006 and MedCannAccess in 2013. Two years after founding, MedCannAccess was acquired by Canopy Growth Corporation where Rade held roles in increasing seniority culminating as President. During his time at Canopy Growth, Rade built a portfolio of industry leading brands, established new product categories and scaled revenue from $2.4MM to over $540MM annually and operations to match.

Rade has a history of being able to bring key stakeholders together, from his past work with the Guelph and Ontario Chambers of Commerce, to co-founding the Canadian Association of Medical Cannabis Dispensaries (now the Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers) and the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (now the Cannabis Council of Canada).

Rade holds a Baccalaureate of Arts degree from the University of Guelph and graduated from the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Ann Gordon, CPA, CA, MBA

Over 30 years of experience in financial executive and public accounting positions most recently as VP Corporate Finance with Canopy Growth Corporation. Prior to working at Canopy was a Senior Manager in Deloitte’s National Capital Region Assurance and Advisory services practice where she developed a deep knowledge of accounting standards and their application to complex arrangements. Spent 18 years working in the Ottawa technology sector as Chief Financial Officer of a venture capital fund and Corporate Controller at a public multinational technology company.

Arsalan Talebzadeh
Head of Corporate Client Success

Arsalan is a professional mining engineer with over 10 years of experience in the mining industry. He was formerly Strategy Manager with Newmont Corporation, Mine Manager and Capital Projects Manager with Hudbay Minerals. Arsalan has held mining engineer roles with Glencore and Hatch Consulting prior. Arsalan is currently president of Tala Consulting Inc, and holds an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Becky Mallett
Human Resources Advisor

Becky is an accomplished global people leader with experience in both early stage and high growth organizations .  Prior to Invert Becky has held several senior level roles in the technology and cannabis industries in both private and public companies.  Becky is focused on assessing, building and implementing Human Resources processes and technology with a focus on culture.  During Becky’s time at Canopy Growth as Vice President, Human Resources Canopy was recognized by Waterstone Human Capital in 2019, as an Industry Leader and awarded Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ award.

Ben Quirin
Head of APAC

Ben joins Invert with over 20 years of global leadership experience gained from the Telecommunications, Technology and Pharmaceutical sector. Ben brings a wealth of experience having lived and worked across various continents. He has been responsible for assessing, opening, and developing emerging markets and establishing products and brands across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC).

Most recently Ben was the Regional Managing Director for Canopy Growth in Asia Pacific (APAC), leading the development and execution of the regional strategy in a new regulated market, which provided greater exposure to a highly regulated environment which was evolving due to advocacy and industry pressure for ‘Change for Good.’  

Having lived and worked internationally, Ben understands the many challenges corporations face in the complex global business environment. Ben thrives upon the challenges that come with establishing a new industry or business and brings forward a unique and authentic approach to delivering results and overcoming obstacles.  

Ben is extremely focused on well-being and has actively taken on measures to support those within his community to balance the pressures of everyday life and removing the stigma associated with mental health. This ties in with his efforts to bring forward greater awareness and understanding around our role to create a diverse and inclusive environment for today and future generations.  

Outside of work, Ben spends quality time with his wife and two children, he has a passion for food, cycling, running, and more recently surfing.

Bianca Pisciola

Founding COO of 6ix, a capital markets technology platform. Through 6ix, she has deployed data-driven investor relations technology for more than 160 public mining companies. Bianca is a board member of One Silver Lining, a Canadian non-profit organization she founded, supporting youth through conferences, benefit concerts, TEDx talks, and scholarships.

Bogdan Burzawa P.Eng., LEED AP
Business Development, Buildings Sector

Bogdan is an Associate and a Senior Mechanical Engineer with J.L. Richards & Associates Limited, a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consulting firm. His focus is business development and project management in the Building Sciences market where he connects strategic partners to provide turnkey solutions to clients.

Bogdan has 15 years of experience in facility design with successfully completed assignments across the globe and as such provides strategic advice into decarbonization strategies across installed facilities at Invert.

Bogdan is a licensed Professional Engineer in the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia. He holds a Bachelor degree of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ottawa and is currently working towards completing an MBA from the University of Ottawa.

Camila Acevedo
Go To Market Coordinator

Camila is passionate about sustainability. She holds a degree in Business Administration (BBA) and is specialized in Sustainable Business Management. Camila had the privilege to contribute to her community by mentoring indigenous entrepreneurs in South America to develop strategies to achieve sustainability in their business models. She has executed digital campaigns for Unilever, Sephora, and Toyota, gaining recognition for driving outstanding KPIs performance of more than 90 campaigns per month. Her career adaptability and skills have caused her to present insights that have led the executives' decision-making.

Chih-Ting Lo, P.Eng., CEM

Chih-Ting is a strategist, entrepreneur, and board member committed to making the global net-zero carbon future a reality targeting high-impact industries. She is a professional engineer with deep sectoral knowledge, expertise in environment, social, and governance (ESG) performance. After years in research and commercialization of a novel hydrogen storage technology, she founded EELO Solutions in 2011, building strategies to support its implementation. With global experience in mining, marine, energy, and international financial institutions, she has enabled $100M+ private sector investments and raised $45M+ for innovation and decarbonization projects in recent years.

She sits on the Board of Metro Vancouver Zero Emissions Innovation Centre and the Advisory Boards of several mining clean tech companies, She is also an Industry Advisor at UBC Bradshaw Research Initiative for Minerals and Mining and an Executive in Residence at Foresight Canada, a cleantech accelerator.

Outside of work, Chih-Ting enjoys everything outdoors, snowboarding, cycling, and growing her own food. She builds and lives in a certified passive house with her partner in the City of Vancouver.

Chris Heider
Head of Blue Carbon

As Head of Blue Carbon, Chris will oversee project diligence and structuring for carbon sequestration and avoidance projects that specifically relate to coastal and marine ecosystems and will support our overall team. He is an ecosystem ecologist with a strong background in quantifying and designing nature-based solutions to climate change in countries with low or limited capacity. Chris has over 25 years of experience consulting for global and regional organizations in the Asia-Pacific Region and Latin America, as well as numerous private sector clients.

Chris has conducted assessments and designed projects across the globe, covering projects of all forms including forest management, reforestation, evaluation of carbon stocks in mangrove, coastal communities, upland forests, wetlands and grasslands.

Christopher Young
Director, Sales

Chris has 20+ years experience in Revenue and Business growth, Digital and Technology Sales, Product definition, Go To Market strategy, strategic planning and market analysis. As a previous Sales and Marketing Leader at companies as diverse as Workopolis (digital recruitment) to Infomine (digital advertising, data, and education for global mining), Chris has significantly grown revenue in both existing and new product lines; acquired top level talent; driven innovation and change management; and increased operational effectiveness.

Chris has sold to a wide variety of verticals, but most notably those verticals with large customer or employee bases such as Technology, Finance, Healthcare, Retail, CPG, and Energy. He has built out sales organisations from the ground up; implemented sales processes, methodologies and tools; hired, coached and developed talent. Chris is client value driven, focusing on innovation, strategic thinking and understanding what it takes to be an agent of change. Chris holds a Master in International Relations from the University of Manitoba and holds numerous sales management and sales methodology certifications.

Clint Hammond, MBA, CPA, CGA

Clint Hammond has a diverse background, including industry experience in retail pharmacy, hospitality, and medical rehab and supplies. Most recently, Clint was Controller for several large medical rehab and supply companies with operations in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. Clint was an instrumental contributor during the companies’  acquisition by an international consortium, providing financial advice and analysis to the ownership group throughout the due diligence process, and financial expertise to the acquirers in the months following acquisition. Clint holds a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and is a member in good standing with CPA Ontario. In addition, Clint holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Guelph and an MBA from Queen’s University. Outside of work, Clint enjoys spending time with his wife at the family cottage with watersports (paddleboarding, water skiing and tubing) a focus.

Cullen Fleming, P.Eng., CFA
Head of Technical Services

Cullen is an experienced Mining Engineer and Rock Mechanics Engineer with over a decade of operational and project experience in both underground and open pit mining operations. He is currently a Corporate Development Specialist at Impala Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Impala Platinum Holdings, focused on building a strategically balanced pipeline of projects across the Americas.

Cullen is a licensed Professional Engineer who holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) from Queen’s University and is a CFA Charterholder.

David Stewart, P.Eng.
Business Development, Mining

David has over a decade of mining sector experience spanning both domestic and overseas mine development, operations and engineering, and including five years of sell-side precious metals equity research.

David is currently VP, Corporate Development & Shareholder Communications at Ascot Resources, a Canadian development-stage company advancing the past-producing Premier Gold Project in northwestern BC towards production. He was previously VP & Analyst, Mining and Metals at Desjardins Securities, and including prior tenure at GMP Securities he has cumulatively covered 23 companies ranging from small-cap explorers to large-cap senior gold producers. David’s prior industry experience included developing underground mine projects around the world, and was responsible for mine design, project execution, and scoping study development.

David is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering from Queen's University.

Derik Lawlis
Product Manager

Derik is an ecology graduate with 8 years of consumer-facing product management experience, working both as a Founder and CEO, and Chief of Operations in start-up environments deploying complex multi-platform software projects. Derik has successfully created, advanced, and executed a wellness mobile app start-up.

Gabe Sheets-Poling
Strategic Lead, Carbon Projects & Trading

Gabriel brings expertise in carbon markets, behavioral economics and a strong background in trading illiquid assets, spending most of his career using markets to solve problems. Gabriel previously held senior roles at Indigo Ag serving as both Head of Marketplace and Head of Global Markets & Pricing. As Chief Strategy officer for Cloud Ag, a soil carbon quantification company, he worked on driving down the cost to quantify climate positive work. At Cargill Risk Management, Gabriel worked globally  with users and producers in the ag supply chain on revenue creation and protection.  Gabriel also brings expertise in the use and implementation of new tech including distributed ledgers. Gabriel is a graduate of Harvard University and holds an MBA and Masters in Finance from Boston College.

Jeff Dawley
Chief Financial Officer

Jeff Dawley is an experienced and passionate financial executive with international experience across a variety of industries.  Jeff is driven to help entrepreneurial business leaders articulate their strategic objectives, establish performance targets, develop tactical plans and achieve their desired results.  

Jeff has worked in finance and technology across a broad spectrum of Canadian and international organizations and a diverse collection of industries. Jeff has operated as a senior executive for nearly 20 years, including over 10 years as a CFO in both publicly listed and private companies.

Jeff holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation in Canada, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Technology Professional designation in the US and a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation recognized in the UK and US.  Jeff is a volunteer member of the Government Relations Committee for the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade and serves as the audit committee chair for a Canadian publicly listed company.

Jennifer Manwell
Intermediate Software Developer

Jennifer is a software developer with over 10 years of experience.  She has a diverse background and has spent time in both the IT and the Hospitality Industries. She particularly enjoys problem solving and developing software solutions that have a positive impact on people’s lives. When not working or spending time with her husband and son, she enjoys taking classes at the gym.

Jennifer Smart
Director, Marketing

Jennifer is a Marketing, Strategic Communications, and Change Management leader with over 20 years of experience across a variety of industries. Prior to joining the team at Invert, Jennifer spent the last three years in the cannabis industry and the decade before in the field of aerospace & defense. While her experience has been diverse, the focus has remained the same: creating meaningful campaigns and messaging that drive engagement and promote sustainable change.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UBC, an International Baccalaureate from HZ University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and has complemented her experience with a Diploma in Public Relations from UVIC and Prosci Certification in Change Management.If you're looking for her outside of the office, you'll find her at the curling club or the golf course if she's not at home with her family and three dogs.

Jesse Little

Jesse Little is a designer and photographer with over 7 years of experience in the creative industry. As a professional graphic and web designer, Jesse has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients in various industries including travel and tourism, food and hospitality, real estate, e-commerce, and outdoor recreation. He has worked directly with clients to get to the heart of their business needs, developing branding guidelines, graphics, logos, marketing materials, and fully custom websites.

Through his work as a professional freelance photographer, Jesse has photographed everything from lifestyle and outdoor adventure, portraits and headshots, gatherings and events, to products and real estate. He is passionate about creating beautiful imagery that can be used practically in marketing and branding initiatives, to set individuals and companies apart in today’s digital world.

Kevin Barford
Director, Mergers & Acquisitions

Kevin Barford has over ten years of capital markets experience. He has helped raise over $200 million of debt and equity capital, with an emphasis on renewable energy project finance. He previously worked with the Capital Markets group of Brookfield Renewable Partners, one of the largest owners of renewable energy projects worldwide. He holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School and is a CFA Charterholder.

Kevin Fields
Senior Software Developer

Kevin is a software developer with 15 years of experience spanning multiple disciplines. He has designed and developed systems for automated production lines and build systems for video streaming services running on over a dozen different devices and platforms. He originally comes from the video games industry where he worked on several AAA game titles, focusing on tools and various systems that the other developers can use to make their experiences on the projects more enjoyable. During this time, Kevin has led several teams, working with designers, producers and clients to deliver quality, performant software.

When he isn’t working, Kevin enjoys spending time with his partner going for walks or watching movies, as well as researching different technologies to use in new projects.

Krista Swanson
Senior Director, IT & Project Delivery

Krista is an accomplished IT professional, speaker, and volunteer who has broad experience in identifying business needs and translating those needs into technology solutions that are the right fit and deployed at the right time.  

In her over two decades of experience, Krista has worked both directly for businesses as well as a consultant, implementing technology solutions for a variety of Fortune 500 companies across North America and Europe. This experience has provided her with a unique view of the impacts of technology on a variety of industries.

While not implementing technology at work, Krista is passionate about giving back to her community and is an avid volunteer, assisting nonprofits in selection of their technology platforms and identifying grant programs to assist them with their  investments.  She thoroughly enjoys speaking at conferences, and has been both an individual speaker and panel speaker for webinars and conferences in the US and Canada.

Krista is currently enrolled in the Executive Education program at Rutgers University, working towards completing her EMBA.

Manuel Duong

Manuel Duong is an intermediate software developer working on new and exciting features of the Invert app and website.  Manuel graduated from the Mobile App Design and Development program at Algonquin College where he focused on mobile application technologies. He was also an Assistant Professor and supported level one students during their classes. Before being a part of the Invert team, Manuel was a mobile application developer for Data Analytics Center at Algonquin College in which he supported Algonquin's client to develop a shop and local tour app named PopTikr which received two awards from the RE/ACTION showcase held by the college. Manuel currently lives in Ottawa and spends his free time reading fantasy books, and spending time with his family of three.

Mark Lawson
Head of Carbon Acquisition

Mark joins Invert with over 20 years of private equity & investment banking experience dually in North America, and the emerging markets, with a particular focus on the energy, energy transition, sustainable finance and decarbonization sectors.

He was previously an investment banker with Morgan Stanley in New York where he was involved in the execution of over $6 billion worth of mergers and acquisitions, $8 billion worth of debt offerings and $500 million of equity financings in the energy, and technology sectors.

Mark received his Bachelor of Arts in Statistical Sciences from The University of Western Ontario, and his MBA from The Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. A former elite athlete, he was a Co-Captain of the undefeated, University of Western Ontario Mustangs National Championship Football Team, and is an Inductee into the Varsity Athletics Wall of Champions.

His personal passions include social impact and film, as he was an Executive Producer of COLOUR ME, a Documentary which was an Official Selection for the Atlantic, Mexico, and Montreal Film Festivals.

Mark also established, and serves on the board of the Hugh & Ilene Lawson Charitable Organization (HILCO) whose stated mission is to create expansive, and inclusive educational opportunities for young men and women, that do not have the financial resources to pursue their higher educational aspirations. He is also a member of the Economic Club of New York, which was founded in 1907 and is the premier nonpartisan and nonpolitcal forum for discussion on complex issues ranging from public policy, economic regulation, climate change to tech disruption.

Mark Raguz

Mark has worked closely with Invert's investment committee since the company’s inception to evaluate carbon offset project development and streaming opportunities. He is a specialist in royalty and streaming structuring across sectors including the commodity and renewable energy spaces. Mark manages the royalty portfolio at Altius Minerals Corporation (TSX: ALS) where he has led initiatives to originate new development and production stage royalty investment opportunities. Prior to his current role, he was Vice President, Investment Banking at several leading full-service boutique investment dealers. He was previously a mining and metals analyst in both buy-side and sell-side research. He has served as a director of various TSX Venture listed companies. Mr. Raguz holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the Lassonde Mineral Engineering Program at the University of Toronto.

Matt De Wolfe
Senior Software Developer

Matt is an experienced software developer with a focus on mobile and interactive apps. Experienced in both Apple and Android development as well as web-connected applications. Matt has managed projects through all stages of design, from inception and prototyping to testing and deployment. Acting as lead development of 10 HTML games including deciding on core technologies and limitations and communicating with external resources for asset delivery.

Matt Delaney
Head of Forestry and Nature-based Projects

Matt Delaney is a forester specializing in carbon projects.  He has over 20 years of experience in forest carbon methodology development, forest inventory techniques,  and carbon markets.  He has been part of the successful implementation of carbon projects on over two million acres of land.

Matt is co-author of an IFM carbon methodology under the American Carbon Registry and is currently part of a team writing a biochar carbon methodology for Verra. As Head of Carbon Forestry at Invert, he will evaluate and complete due diligence on a variety of forest carbon project opportunities including IFM, REDD+, and reforestation projects globally.  He will also identify new opportunities in the carbon offset and removal sector and assist in the development of new carbon methodologies.

Mike Murphy
Senior Account Executive

Mike has a successful track record as a Sales Executive in a variety of industries including automotive, communications, finance, technology, and real estate. With over 15 years of experience in sales, Mike has negotiated deals with well-known Fortune 500 companies around the world. Prior to Invert, Mike worked as a real estate agent and closed close to $30 million in residential and investment property. Mike loves the challenge of overcoming objections, finding common ground, and building relationships that go beyond the sales cycle.

When he isn’t working or spending time with his wife and son, you can find him on the golf course, at the beach playing volleyball, or hosting a backyard BBQ for his family and friends.

Oliver Turner
Head of Corporate Development

Experienced institutional capital markets and senior mining executive. Oliver serves as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for Karora Resources. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Resource Acquisition Corp and is a Business Development partner at Reality Check Systems, a VR platform aimed at reducing emissions heavy travel for industrial site visits via VR tours. Prior to Karora, Oliver was a Senior Vice President of Mining Equity Research at GMP Securities and a Mining Engineer at Wardrop Engineering. Oliver is a graduate of Queen’s Mining Engineering and is a CFA Charterholder.

Panos Panagiotakopoulos, PHD

Panos is a sustainability researcher and consultant with 15+ years experience in coaching organizations to assess and integrate sustainability. As principal and founder of the boutique consulting firm Close the Loop, Panos has advised companies from the financial, agricultural, real estate, construction and retail sectors on sustainability strategy, climate change, life cycle assessment and business modelling. He has also provided training on these topics to professionals and students in Canada, Europe and Asia.

Panos studied Environmental Engineering and holds a PhD in Corporate Sustainability from Heriot-Watt University (Scotland). He has authored academic papers on sustainable business design and as part of his latest research project he developed an online tool to help businesses choose effective sustainability certifications (ecolabels) for their products and services.

Panos is a professor and coordinator of the Sustainable Business Management program of Seneca College and teaches sustainability and business design at the University of Toronto and OCAD University.

Patrick Marshall
Head of Emissions Reductions

Patrick is a specialist in the emission reduction, automation, and mining equipment space. He currently serves as Vice President of Product Management for Maclean Engineering and is a specialist in heavy equipment solutions for the mining industry with sales in 23 countries across six continents. Patrick joined MacLean in 2018, having worked at mining operations across Australia and Canada in roles spanning operational excellence, technology implementation, equipment automation, asset management, and mobile equipment maintenance. Leveraging his diverse experience in the mining industry, Patrick leads the MacLean Product Management teams who are committed to delivering industry-leading solutions and creating value through superior technical, application, and market knowledge.

Patrick Marshall graduated from the University of Queensland with an Honours Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.

Peter Popplewell
Head of Carbon Technology

Peter has held multiple roles managing small and large technical teams developing consumer electronics that have successfully launched in market.  From 2017 through 2020 he served as CTO of Canopy Growth Corp. where he led Canopy’s technology R&D team that developed the world’s first UL-8139 safety certified line of vaporizers for cannabis. Peter played a key role in Canopy’s acquisition of Storz & Bickel in 2018 for approx. CAD $225M, a German manufacturer of best in class and medically certified vaporizers for cannabis and other herbs, and oversaw S&B as Managing Director - successfully growing that business by 30% year over year. From 2008 to 2017 he managed engineering teams at Fortune 500 company, Skyworks Solutions that supplied Bluetooth and WiFi modules enabling such functionality for multiple generations of the world’s best selling mobile phones. Prior to Skyworks, Peter was a lead design engineer at Kleer Semiconductor (an Ottawa startup) where his team brought to market the world’s first wireless earbud headphones in 2007 in partnership with Sennheiser.

Peter holds a PhD in Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, and twenty six patents in good standing with the US patent office.

An avid catch and release fly fisherman and outdoorsman, Peter is passionate about the state of the environment, global warming, and engineering solutions that the world must adopt in order to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Phil Shaer
General Counsel

Phil has been a lawyer for over twenty years, commencing his career at McCarthy Tetrault, where he was part of the M&A/Corporate Finance Group, then moving inhouse to eventually become both General Counsel and Chief Licensing Officer at MOSAID Technologies Inc. (formerly Conversant Intellectual Property Management Inc.), and most recently, Canopy Growth Corporation’s Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary.

Over his fifteen years as an executive, Phil has not only been responsible for managing and growing Legal Departments, he’s also had responsibility for Advocacy, Business and Market Research, Chief Medical/Product Safety, Government Relations and Human Resources Departments. He’s also been directly responsible for tens of millions in revenue generation, and has overseen billions of dollars in mergers and acquisitions, and investments spanning several dozens of deals.

Phil obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Windsor in 2000, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (with a minor in French) from Université Laval. Phil received the Ottawa Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 Award in 2008, was a finalist in Lexpert®’s Rising Stars—Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2011, received the Dealmakers (Small Department) Innovation Award in 2017 and received the CGCA Deal Maker of the Year Award in 2019.

Phil is an avid crossfitter, and spends most of his time hanging out with his wife and two teenage daughters.

Reid Stanway

Reid  has a successful track record as an experienced executive in the insurance industry.  In addition to his role at Invert, Reid is the Chief Digital Officer for Verisk Specialty Business Solutions, a global data-driven analytic insights, digital placement platforms, and solutions provider for the insurance industry. Verisk’s Maplecroft are leaders in modelling the intersection between sovereign ESG, political and climate change risks.

Prior to Verisk, Reid spent ten years at Marsh, the world’s largest insurance broker, where he most recently held the position of Digital Placement Leader. As Digital Placement Leader, Reid worked with the global leadership team to define, lead and execute the business’ digital trading strategy. He also created and scaled the company’s in-house algorithmic insurtech.  

Reid holds an MS in Risk Management from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS in Geological Engineering from Queen’s University in Canada. He’s also a graduate of the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme at the University of Oxford and has been a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada since 2013.

Ru Wadasinghe
Head of Product and Software Development

With over 30 years of technology experience, Ru is the former Chief Information Officer of Canopy Growth Corporation where he built a technology foundation for the company. Prior to joining Canopy Growth, Ru was the CIO and VP of Professional Services at March Networks and spent 20 years at Nortel where he held leadership positions in product management, operations and IT.

Ru holds an Engineering degree from Carleton University and an MBA from the University of Ottawa. Ru was awarded a U.S. patent in Internet networking and was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 19 Technology Titans for 2019.

Shane Guay
Senior Systems Architect and Technical Project Manager

Shane is a versatile technical resource with over twenty years of experience in software development. His experience encompasses all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including managing, architecting, developing, coordinating, and tracking various projects of varying sizes. Shane has demonstrated experienced leadership abilities with a capacity to train and mentor highly productive and motivated teams. Shane has delivered over 50 mobile apps to the Apple and Android app stores, including CFL Football Frenzy, NFL Play 60, Hasbro Monopoly Here & Now, Disney Junior Magic Phone, and streaming apps for TBS/Cartoon Network, and Disney Anywhere.

Steve Davis
Director R&D

Steve is a professional engineer with over 35 years of software development experience. He has developed products in the areas of mobile apps, web, encryption, and embedded systems. An experienced system architect and team builder, Steve is most at home in the very early stages of new products when flexibility and imagination are most important. When not working he is at the gym doing CrossFit or on the trails training for Ultra distance races (50k plus).Steve has a B.Eng from Carleton University, with over 10 patents awarded in various technologies.
